Project Journey: MomMiniMart — The Pioneer Project

1. The Essentials

  • Project Name: MomMiniMart
  • Client/Organization: Tiffany (Boston, USA)
  • Your Role: AppSheet Specialist & Business Automation Consultant
  • Duration: June 2022 – Ongoing (Multiple Phases)
  • Project Type: Full Business Solution / Inventory Automation

2. The "Why" (The Problem)

  • What was the challenge? The client, Tiffany, was managing her entire stock in a legacy Google Sheet that lacked relational integrity. A single product sold multiple times would be recorded in a single row, making it impossible to track individual transactions, historical trends, or real-time stock levels.
  • What was at stake? As a growing business, the manual effort required to update the "MomMiniMart" website and reconcile inventory was becoming a bottleneck. Operational errors were leading to stock discrepancies between the back-end and the live storefront.

3. The "How" (The Action)

  • What was the solution? We built a custom management system from scratch using AppSheet, turning a flat spreadsheet into a relational database.
  • Key Tech/Skills Used: AppSheet Automation, Google Sheets, Data Normalization, Real-Time Syncing.
  • Your Specific Contribution: * Development from Scratch: During live Google Meet sessions, I translated Tiffany's old workflow into a modernized app architecture.
    • Sync Error Resolution: Identified and fixed a critical bug where the website stock was not updating correctly. The root cause was a data-type mismatch in the "Brand" column (Number vs. Enum/Text) that prevented automation triggers.
    • Monitoring Tools: Developed a specialized "Error Stock" view that monitors discrepancies between AppSheet, Google Sheets, and the live website, allowing for immediate intervention.

4. The "So What?" (The Results)

  • Quantifiable Success: * Successfully automated routine tasks that previously required manual entry for every sale.
    • Established a 100% accurate live stock sync between the backend and the website.
    • Implemented a performance-optimized Drive URL structure to ensure the app stays fast as the product list grows.
  • Qualitative Success: This project established a long-term partnership with a client in Boston. Tiffany transitioned from struggling with spreadsheets to managing a fully automated digital business.

5. LinkedIn "Hook" Potential

The Power of the First "Yes": Turning a $25 Order into a Long-Term Partnership.

In June 2022, MomMiniMart became my first-ever client on Fiverr. What started as a small automation task turned into a full-scale business solution.

The Lesson in the Logs: We once found a major sync error that was breaking the website’s inventory. The culprit? A single column marked as a "Number" instead of "Text."

Key Takeaway: In automation, details are everything. A tiny data-type error can stop an entire business in its tracks. We didn't just fix the error; we built an "Error Monitoring View" to ensure it never happens again.

Moral: Treat your first client like your biggest client. Trust is the foundation of every line of code we write.
